Web Placement Solutions- Sitemaps are a way to tell Google about pages on your site they might not otherwise discover. In its simplest terms, a XML Sitemap—usually called Sitemap, with a capital S—is a list of the pages on your website. This is something completely different than the “sitemap” found at the bottom of a website. The “sitemap” at the bottom of a web page is simply a secondary navigation bar to help YOU find your way around a website. The Sitemap Google needs to see is a sort of “breadcrumb trail’ of what is contained within each page of your site. Creating and submitting a Sitemap helps make sure that Google knows about all the pages on your website, including URLs that may not be discoverable by Google's normal crawling process.
